St. Gregory’s School Council – The Voice of the Playground!

At St. Gregory’s, we don’t just have a School Council… we have a Super Squad of School Sorter-Outers! These brave pupils have been voted in by their classmates to speak up, share ideas, and make our school even more awesome.

They meet regularly (yes, even during lunch — sandwiches in one hand, serious thinking in the other!) with teachers, the Head Teacher, and sometimes even the Governors. Fancy, right? Their mission: to make school life happier, fairer, and more fun for everyone.

What do our School Councillors actually do?

Well, apart from being super responsiblesuper reflective, and super cool, they:

  • Help make school a safe, happy, and fair place to learn
  • Give pupils a chance to speak up and be heard
  • Learn how to bounce back when things get tricky (that’s called resilience!)
  • Organise fun stuff and help with school events
  • Experience democracy (like voting, but with less shouting)

What skills do they learn?

Our Councillors become mini masterminds in:

  • Planning and running small projects
  • Speaking up and listening well
  • Budgeting (yes, they know how to count money AND spend it wisely!)

They’ve done some pretty amazing things too — like raising money for charity, helping our partner school in Kenya, promoting Fairtrade Fortnight, and even giving presentations to Governors (with slides and everything!).

Who’s in the Council?

We’ve got 2 pupils from Reception to Year 5, and 4 from Year 6 — chosen by their friends because they’re kind, fair, honest, and just a little bit brilliant. They’re role models who live out our school motto:

“Be Kind, Be Fair, Be Honest.”
